President’s Message 2024
This year’s theme, Deep Roots & New Shoots, could not describe the long history of the Kincardine Fall Fair any better!
In 1848 Kincardine was founded as "Penetangore" and 4 years later was the 1st Kincardine Fall Fair. In 1886 Connaught Park became our home and not surprisingly, a lot has changed in that time. The fair was originally considered to be on the edge of town and agricultural was the largest employer & business sector in the area. Today the fairgrounds sit in the core of Kincardine and agriculture is now the second largest industry surpassed only by the energy sector and followed by tourism.
Thanks to the numerous dedicated community members, businesses and volunteers now & over many years, the fair has continued to bring agriculture to a growing community of people, many of whom have no first-hand knowledge of what agriculture and farming is all about. The Kincardine Agricultural Society continues to educate, create an understanding of how food gets to our table, how farming has always been climate aware, environmentally sustainable, and stewards of the land.
As part of that growth, we are excited to have an online system called ASSIST EXPO. You will be able to browse the book, print the sections you want, submit entries, and print tags all from home! Don’t worry, we can still print copies for you book lovers. This program allows our volunteers to enter results in real time reducing the numerous hours of paperwork so that we can get your prize money to you…whoohoo… who doesn’t want money and prizes? We will also make sure we have volunteers available to help navigate the new system.
We look forward to bringing back Grand River Inflatables, with adult axe throwing, rock climbing, gaming trailer and more. Furthermore, we have food vendors, exhibits, cattle & dairy shows, petting farm, and live entertainment.
The Ambassador Leadership Program is looking for applicants to fill the role of our Kincardine Fall Fair Ambassador, as well as a Jr ambassador.
